Ramadan is the Month of Blessings: Let’s Not Miss It

Explore Ramadan's profound blessings, including the Quran’s revelation and the transformational power of fasting. Understand the significance of Laylatul Qadr, a night more valuable than a thousand months, and seize this opportunity for spiritual renewal and divine mercy.
Ramadan is the Month of Blessings

All praise is due to Allah. We testify that there is no god but Him. Peace and blessings be upon the final Messenger Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, and all who will follow him till the end of time.

In Islam, certain times are more cherished than others. Ramadan is undoubtedly the most honoured of them all. During this month, Allah has revealed His greatest blessing to mankind – the glorious Quran. Not only that, he has made the night of its revelation more valuable than a thousand months. But the blessings of Ramadan don’t end there.

Imagine earning the reward of an entire year’s worth of good deeds, or even securing your place in Paradise; the blessings of Ramadan go far beyond what we often realize. Ramadan is the month of blessings that can change your life if you live it fully. In this article we’ll look at how Ramadan is the month of blessings and how it can shape your life.

Blessings That Set Ramadan Apart

  1. Quran’s Revelation in Ramadan

The Quran is the ultimate divine guide for life and the greatest blessing ever bestowed upon humanity by Allah, the Almighty. And Ramadan is the sacred month in which this divine revelation first descended. Allah Himself says:

Meaning: “The month of Ramadan is the one in which the Qur’ān was revealed as guidance for mankind, and as clear signs that show the right way and distinguish between right and wrong.” [Surah Al Baqarah, 2 : 185]

  1. Lailatul Qadr: Better Than a Thousand Months

Laylatul Qadr is the sacred night in Ramadan when the Quran was first revealed. On this night, angels descend, bringing peace and mercy from Allah. Any good deed you do on this night counts as if you’ve been doing it for over a thousand months. Subhanallah, more than 83 years worth of reward in one night! Allah says in the Quran:

لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍۢ ٣

Meaning: “The Night of Qadr is much better than one thousand months.” [Surah Al Qadr, 97 : 3]

The Messenger of Allah said:

فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ مَنْ حُرِمَ خَيْرَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ

Meaning: “In it (Ramadan) Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i 2106]

Perhaps this Ramadan will be the one where you earn the rewards of Laylatul Qadr and change your fate forever. Discover the most effective ways to maximise your rewards of the blessed night from this article.

  1. Hellfire Locked, Mercy Unlocked

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ، وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ، وَسُلْسِلَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ

Meaning: “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.” [Sahih al-Bukhari 1899]

Think of it as a mercy from Allah—a chance to reset. After a year of falling into Shaytan’s traps, Allah blesses you with an opportunity to turn back, seek forgiveness, and renew your faith.

  1. Fasting in Ramadan: Full Year Worth of Rewards

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

Meaning: “He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. it would be as if he fasted perpetually (the full year).” [Sahih Muslim: 1164]

Allah multiplies good deeds at least tenfold. Ramadan’s 30 days = 300 days (10 months), and six days in Shawwal = 60 days (2 months). Total? Earn the reward of fasting the entire year in just 36 days!

  1. Ramadan Fasting: Your Entry Ticket to Paradise

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Indeed, there is a gate in Paradise called al-Rayyan. Those who fasted will enter through it on the Day of Judgement. No one else will enter through it along with them. It will be said: ‘Where are those who fasted?’ Then they will get up, and there will be none other than them to enter through it. Once they have all entered, it will be closed and no one else will enter through it.”

[Sahih-al-Bukhari: 1896]

  1. Umrah in Ramadan is Equivalent to Hajj

The reward of performing Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to that of performing Hajj. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ ) said:

عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً

Meaning: “Umrah during Ramadan is equal to Hajj.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 939]

P.S. The equivalence mentioned here is only in terms of reward. If Hajj is obligatory upon you, performing Umrah in Ramadan does not replace it—you must still perform Hajj at least once in your lifetime.

FAQs

Q. Are deeds multiplied 70 times, and 1 Nafl is equal to 1 Fard in Ramadan?

Ans. The correct opinion is that deeds are multiplied from 10 times to infinite times in and out of Ramadan based on intention and sincerity. The hadith that states the ‘70 times factor is weak. For further details, please check out this link.

Q. Is it a blessing to die in Ramdan?

Ans. There is a hadith that states that if a person dies while fasting, then he will enter into paradise. But that is subject to whether the person died in Iman or not. Also, the hadith does not specifically state ‘in Ramadan’, although most people usually fast only in Ramadan. So, it could mean fasts in and out of the month of Ramadan. Allah knows best.

Conclusion

In short, Ramadan is the month of blessings, full of opportunities to earn rewards and strengthen your connection with Allah. So, spend more time in Quran recitation, Salah, and other Ibadah. Make the most of this time as every moment counts. Every act of kindness and devotion in Ramadan is more valuable than other times. Ramadan is the month of blessings, and only a fool would neglect it. So, you must not miss out.
